How many times can a signed OffPeak Return train ticket be used?
Q. Ive used my return ticket more than once when it's not been used but can I also use it if it's been signed but still valid by date? I've search everywhere on the terms and conditions of the ticket type and nowhere does it say otherwise. Any comments?

A. It is a violation against community guidelines of Yahoo for any one to give you an answer which would break the law. If your ticket has been used but the authorities have failed to cancel that ticket it is morally wrong of you to continue to use it even though it is still technically valid because you are effectively stealing by doing so 00.

Are you able to use just the return ticket if you purchase round trip airline tickets?
Q. I want to see if there are any penaltys for only using the return flight ticket and not using the departure ticket for a round trip airfare.
Asked by CadillacKing - Tue Nov 6 15:51:29 2007 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you do not show up for the first flight of your round-trip, the rest of your ticket will be cancelled and if you don't notify the airline in advance that you won't be taking the first flight, you lose the value of the entire ticket.

How much does a return ticket from London Waterloo to Staines cost?
Q. Hey, i'm travelling to Thorpe Park next week and i'm going from Upminster to Waterloo, Waterloo to Staines, then Staines bus direct to Thorpe Park. Does anyone know how much a RETURN ticket from london waterloo to STAINES is? I've heard it was 8, but i've also been told it can be up to 14. I really need to know as if it is too much i can't afford it :( Note: I'll be at Waterloo at about 9-10am.

A. Hi gleigh_ec The Off-peak day return is 8. This ticket is available on any train on weekends and Bank Holidays. On Monday - Fridays, it is valid after 9:30am (First train 9:32). The peak day return is 11.10. Alternatively if you have a zones 1- 6 Travelcard season ticket (weekly, monthly ect) NOT a PAYG Oyster, Then you buy a ticket from the end zone 6 (Feltham) The off peak return: 4 same validity as the off-peak from Waterloo. Peak return 5.20 It's advisable to ask.

Is it possible to cancel a return ticket while overseas?
Q. I have both German and Australian citizenship and would like to stay longer overseas in Germany. On my return leg it goes to Manila and then back home to Australia. So will I be able to cancel the return date and book a one-way ticket at a later date from Germany to stop over to Manila and back to Australia? Will my dual citizenship affect this? And is it easier to just book with your travel agent or book with a airline?
Asked by Jay M - Mon Feb 23 15:28:24 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You won't be able to cancel it. Once you started the trip you bought, the airline doesn't allow this. I would contact your travel agent, though, and see if he can't "rescedule". I did that a number of times with my return ticket when I moved back to Germany from the states, as things just kept on coming up. On the other hand, that was a trip where the return ticket was already baught and paid for, but as an "open ticket", with no date set (costs a bit more at booking, compared to a normal long time return ticket, but only about 20 to 20 , normally). It will always be possible to book a one-way ticket, but you will not get any money back from your return ticket. The person who would have sat next to you will just have more space (if he's… [cont.]

Can I buy a roundtrip flight and only use the return ticket?
Q. I bought a one-way ticket to Ecuador and now want to buy a ticket back to the US. The round-trip tickets are actually cheaper than the one-way tickets. Can I buy a round-trip ticket and not use one of the flights? Or if I am not there on the flight to Ecuador, will they assume I'm not going to be there on the return flight?
Asked by Lisa - Thu Sep 11 18:18:42 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You can use the outbound flight and skip the return. However, you will probably get little or no refund for the unused flight. The airline will only refund the difference between what you paid and the normal one-way fare. As you noted, round trip fares are often cheaper than one-way fares, so you usually receive no refund. You cannot skip the outbound flight and use the return. The airline will cancel your return flight if you don't show up for the outbound flight and you don't cancel it. If you cancel the outbound flight, the airline will charge you the one-way fare to use the return.

Q. I've booked a round trip ticket, but i don't think i'll be able to be back on the return date i booked. Will i will be refunded? Will i be able to choose a new date in which i'll be able to return? Or do i have to buy a new one way ticket. I'm travelling with continental airlines to the caribbean. but i think the ticket ws bought through orbitz.
Asked by mckaiya - Wed Jan 9 18:17:40 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you bought your ticket through Orbitz you are going to have to pony up some major money to make the change if they allow you to make the change at all. I have stopped using these "Discount ticketers" because of just this problem. i was injured in Thailand and asked to change the ticket to an earlier flight because of a medical emergency. The entire ticket had only been $845 and the change was a minimum of $250 dollars. When you deal with the airlines direct you have many more options. I don't think that you will lose the whole ticket, although thats possible, But I think you are going to spend some money!

Can i get on a different virgin train to the time shown on my pre-booked saver return ticket?
Q. I booked a saver return from rugby to manchester picadilly a couple of weeks ago (for tomorrow at 1810), only now i realised i can catch an earlier train. I checked on national rail and the prices are the same as i paid for lots of other trains earlier in the day as its only a ticket you can walk up and buy, so would i be able to catch an earlier train?

A. Yes, of course you can. The inspector will look at your ticket, tell you it's non-transferable, and extract a breathtakingly large sum of money from you. But you can.

Is a return ticket really necessary when travelling south america?
Q. I'm soon going to South America, and my trip starts in Venezuela. Now my understanding is that as a Maltese citizen i don't require any Visa, however it seems as though a return/onward ticket is required. Since i will be traveling around South America for around a year, and i don't know what route im taking, purchasing a return ticket doesn't really make sense to me... Does anybody know, from their own experience whether this will really be a problem? Thanks :)

A. You do need a return or onward ticket to get onto the airplanes or to get into most countries. I do not know of any exceptions in Latin America. It is annoying and limiting but there is a way around it. You can buy open ended onward tickets without specific dates of departure. They can be open for up to one year but sometimes these tickets are expensive. Once in a while they are cheap. Make sure any tickets buy open ended can be exchanged for a new ticket to the destination you really want. You only need to buy a ticket to leave the next country, not to get all the way back home. And in most countries you can buy in advance an onward bus ticket, also open ended and cheap. Cheap enough to throw away. These can often be bought on… [cont.]

Is is possible to pay a return ticket on Dubin buses?
Q. I am coming to Dublin on holiday and I stay at Danboyne. I saw there is number 70a going to the city centre. Is is possible to pay a return ticket? How much is that? Thank you for your help.
Asked by LUPETTA - Thu Aug 6 05:34:01 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If your staying for a while it would be well worth investing in a some sort of weekly bus pass as this would be a significant saving... Dunboyne to Dublin city is 2.20 each way a five day rambler pack costs 20 euro... so that would already be a saving. You can also get train and bus packs which would be good if you are considering seeing more than just the City (7 days for 34.50) this would also allow you to use the trains around the city which would be good for visiting some of the coastal towns like Howth and Dun Laoghaire. There are also Bus and Luas tickets but the Luas doesn't really cover enough of Dublin to bother buying a pass for. If you need to take it your better off paying at the time. You can buy the tickets at most… [cont.]

Can I "stop off" mid-way through a journey on a saver return ticket?
Q. I have a saver return ticket, the return leg is valid from Huddersfield to London Terminals. On this ticket, can I get a train from Huddersfield to Manchester Piccadilly, then a train to Crewe, stop off in Crewe for a few hours then get a train from Crewe to London? Or does it have to be a continuous journey?
Asked by Paul C - Wed Jul 23 08:23:59 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yes you can. A "break of journey" is allowed on the return half of a Saver ticket. This means you can get off at any intermediate station, and resume your journey later, provided that the ticket is valid via that station. Note that you do not have to resume your journey on the same day. The return halves of Savers are valid for a period of one month, and you can start, break, and resume your journey at any time within that validity period. For example, there would be nothing to stop you staying in Crewe for a few days if you wanted to, so long as the ticket is still valid when you do resume your journey.

is it cheaper to buy return ticket to US in thailand or in US?
Q. is it cheaper to buy return ticket to US in thailand or in US? Seattle specifically? and which airlines are cheapest?
Asked by Madeira - Sat May 24 18:00:38 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. it is completely irrelevant! The cheapest way is to do it online- and booking online does not take into consideration where you are when you purchase your ticket. The best way to do it online is to go to a website that sells discount international tickets and find the carrier with the cheapest ticket. THEN go to that carrier's website and book your ticket. If you are flying non-stop I think Thai Airways is about the only thing out there- and a one-way ticket should be in the neighborhood of 1000 give or take depending on fuel prices- so likely give a a few $$$... That will only take you as far as JFK (or possibly LAX - not sure if that route is currently open). From there you need to book a domestic flight to Seattle.

Q. I want to go from A to B, but the tickets for travel from B to A are 3 times cheaper. One way tickets are extortionate. So I want to buy a return and not use the first leg only the return. Will this be a problem with the Air Company Mafia?
Asked by alan t - Thu May 17 12:22:31 2007 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yep, this is a common way of getting cheaper tickets. The airlines tried to plug this gap about 5 years ago but were stopped by the oft. Because this was a ruling 5 years a go, you might want to check with ther airline before you payup...maybe they appealed...they certainly know its an isue for them and don't like people playing the system.
