I want to get back into exercising, would doing 20 mins 5 times a week be a good start?
Q. I used to do an hour or more 5 times a week but know i cant just jump back into it. So im going go try to start slow and steady. Im thinking 20 mins 3-5 times a week and then adding 10 mins each week. I'll be eating 1800 calories as well. Does this sound okay? Im 20 years old, 5'11. 205 lbs.
Asked by Gabe - Sun Oct 18 23:42:53 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Sounds good to me because if you're just getting back to exercising you don't want to go into it full force because you'll be so sore and it's just not healthy. Start off slow and work your way up. But it sounds to me you've already got yourself a good plan :)

How can I run 2 miles in 16 mins by the end of July?
Q. My school is having cross country tryouts every Tuesday of July. I am going to attend every single one of them. However, ever since track season has been over, I feel very out of shape. I can run 2 miles in 20mins on a treadmill, but cross country is totally different. Do you think I can cut-off 4 mins by then? I would also like to get some tips and training advice.
Asked by sue_kang_xo - Tue Jul 3 16:42:40 2007 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments

A. This actually sounds like cross country practice, not try-outs. I don't know of any high school that turns anybody away from XC. The coach probably just wants to keep tabs on folks to make sure they are working out... and maybe it's against your high school governing body's rules to have practice before a certain date (my guess). So, get in some good runs (outside!!!) as often as possible and don't obsess, you'll be fine.

What's a super healthy lunch i can have that takes about 10 mins to eat?
Q. Hopefully I have it at home. Well I have tonight to prepare for it. And I have to eat ti in less then 10 mins because I've got lots of work to do during lunch tomorrow at school and lunch would only waste more time. Note: I eat really slow! Everyone would finish their lunch in 15mins and I'd have the same lunch and finish in 45 mins! Oh, that gives me a lot of energy too!

A. look around at your house and find some food that is high in carbs and protein. carbs and protein will fill you up and keep you full and the carbs will give you energy. try to stay away from foods that are high in sugar.

How long would it take someone to train to run a mile in 4 mins 43 secs?
Q. Just a average male in 20's who's never trained to run before? Is it possible that some people no matter how hard they trained would never be able to run a mile in 4 mins 43 secs?
Asked by hutchyw117 - Sun Feb 21 10:17:21 2010 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. An average male in his 20s may or may not ever be able to run that time. It really depends on what you think an average male is. But many athletic, thinner built males could do it with dedication and a few years of training. Some would be able to in a years time I'm certain with intense training. 4:43 is attainable by quite a few people. However, going faster than that would start weeding out many. You mention "never trained before" - well at some point all runners never trained before so that isn't as important as genetics and effort put in to training. Being in your 20s is still young but not many people would be willing to put in the effort to achieve this goal.

A. 256mb of RAM is barely enough to start a computer. or are you getting memory confused with hard drive size ? I suggest you run a scan with malwarebytes . you can get malwarebytes here, this is a direct download link so you should have no trouble getting it. click on this link and then select run. install it to your desktop, update it, then run a full scan and remove everything it finds. .

Is it legal to require employees to be 15 mins early and not pay them for it?
Q. My boss requires us to be 15 mins early to do things like count the register, but doesn't want to pay for it because our shift doesn't yet. I live in California. Can she do this and if not, where is it stated she has to pay for that time?

A. Based on what I see on the Department of labor website, your compensation should start at the time you are required to be on duty. See quote from DOL below. "Hours Worked - Covered employees must be paid for all hours worked in a workweek. In general, "hours worked" includes all time an employee must be on duty, or on the employer's premises or at any other prescribed place of work, from the beginning of the first principal activity of the work day to the end of the last principal work activity of the workday. Also included is any additional time the employee is allowed (i.e., suffered or permitted) to work. "

If i become a vegetarian and walk 60 to 90 mins a day, will i lose weight?
Q. Im planning to eat a vegetarian diet and walk 90 mins a day,7 days per week for 3 months.
Asked by J-Dogg - Sun May 24 04:57:33 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you were to follow exactly what you say, you would definitely lose weight. Question is, would it be healthy and are you being realistic? If you choose to eat vegetarian, just remember you have to find foods that have sufficient protein. Think lots of soy (and tofu) and other beans. Also, does your life really have room for running an hour and half everyday? Most people's doesn't. And you're looking to burn yourself out. If you realistically want to lose some weight, start moderately. Diet, but don't cut out everything you like to eat, or you're more likely to relapse, and exercise, but start with 30 minutes 4 or 5 times a week. Then you can work up to more, or you may not even need to, because you may see the results you were looking… [cont.]

How can just lifting weights or jump roping JUST 30 mins a day COUNT?
Q. Like lets say in the morning you wake up and jump rope like 10 mins and lift a 20lb dumbell 50 times count if you where too do it for six months? You only do that every 23 hours so how can it count?
Asked by -- - Thu Jan 1 12:10:27 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The question is vague. Regardless it can "count" anytime your muscles are contracting they are working out. now you wont necessarily see results but it is a great way to get your heart actively pumping blood through your body Even just throwing a football back & forth for 30-45 minutes can get anyone sore if not the slightest bit (of course depending on how physically active someone is) jump roping sounds like a good idea for cardio/stamina however I feel like a 20lb dumbbell may be too light.. even for myself.

A. The short answer is: yes, if you can do it consistently without becoming bored. Any exercise will help, its just the discipline that is needed to keep doing the exercise where most people get caught up on. Try doing something you think is fun instead, like - drumming, wii fitness, riding a bike, skateboarding, etc. If you would like professional diet help besides this, check out my link below.

Asked by manders - Sun Feb 1 17:59:57 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. the equation is: size = ae^kt, where k is the growth rate, and a the initial size we have two unknowns and two equations - just right! 100 = ae^k10 1900 = ae^k100 dividing the larger by the smaller gives us 19 = e^k90 taking natural logs of both sides: ln19 = k90, so k = .0327 plugging this value into one of the other equations gives us a value for a of 72.1 the equation now is: size = 72.1e^0.0327t we can find the initial size of culture by setting t = 0 good luck

How long do contractions usually stay 10 mins apart?
Q. I'm almost 40 weeks pregnant with my first baby and this morning around 11 I started getting some contractions, at first I thought it was just Braxton Hcks but they were even 15 mins and regular they have been constant all day and are around every 8/10 mins since around 1 - is it normal for them to stay at around 8/10 mins for so long? Thanks.
Asked by Benjamin born 18/06/09 - Wed Jun 17 14:29:53 2009 - - 5 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Our prenatal class said that the early stage (20 min apart 30 seconds long...up to 6min apart & closer to 1min long) lasts about 7-8 hours. But they also said that some women have longer (or shorter) early stage labour than this average 7/8 hrs. If you're worried, definitely call your midwife/doctor. Better to go into labour relaxed than worried :) Good luck with a hopefully quicker labor!
