A. The place you'll like the most depends on what you like. And states themselves widely vary--example, outside of New York City, the state of New York is largely rural, spotted with smaller industrial cities. Personally, I like the northeast and can't imagine living anywhere else in the States. Other people hate the northeast and think that it's too cold and people are too rude. Instead of full-out moving to the States, why not study abroad here for a semester or academic year? That way, you could find out the places you'd like to spend more time on your own, and also be sure that the U.S. matches your expectations. Besides, study abroad is the best part about being a college student :-) Every country has its pluses and minuses; the U. [cont.]

In addition, people in America are benefited from cultural differences because they learn to do stuff in another way by observing different cultures. america wouldnt be america with different culltures because theres no such thing as a real american exept the native indians... so yea. thats all i got... good luck

Bank of America needs a Union to protect its employees. How do you or can you start a union at a bank?
Q. Question Details: How can you or can you start a union at a bank? Bank of America has grown way too large, and the people who work there are treated so poorly. Hispanics, Blacks and some Whites (all SVP positions and up are held by white people) it doesn t matter what race you are, you can stand outside of there corporate centers and ask the employees what they think and they ll tell you a Union is needed desperately. They had a hiring fair, and hired around 200 people from the hiring fair. Then before the 90 days was up, they let those 200 people go. Bank of America is only diverse so it can treat people like migrant workers and pay them almost the same. It s a shame that Afro-American and the Hispanic communities have award… [cont.]

A. Why don't you leave and find another job? It is extremely hard to find good people in the marketplace today so if you are a good employee with valuable skills you should be able to find a job that treats you better. I never understand why people would stay at job that treated them poorly? Last I checked there is bank on every corner why not go work for the competition? As someone who hires people on a regular basis it is extremely hard to find smart, reliable and hardworking individuals. It seems like most people just want to collect a paycheck not earn it. To try and keep the good I promise raises every 3 months for the first year. Of course if they don't measure up I also fire them fast.

In America is a biscuit different to a cookie?
Q. Here in Australia, most people use the term biscuit in the same sense as cookie, but someone from America told me they eat biscuits with gravy for breakfast. Cookies and gravy sounds weird, even for Americans, so I'm guessing biscuits and cookies are different things. Please explain.

Boy are you missing out. While flour is used in both of them the rest of the ingredients are different.there are many variations of cookies and biscuits.but at the same time their beginnings are basic its what you add to them that makes them different. I hope I didn't confuse further.By the way I won't insult you I'll do the opposite. We have a restaurant called Outback and I love it.I also love your accent. have a great day !

In america are both parents incomes taken into account when determining who pays for the kids?
Q. I live in australia where there are big changes to Child Support Payment Formula on 1st July 2008. I was wondering how it works in America?
Asked by venomredford - Mon May 26 06:14:29 2008 - - 4 Answers - 1 Comments
A. The calculation of child support is handled at the State level, not at the national level in the US. Although each state has its own rules, both incomes are generally taken into account. Some states include the family lifestyle prior to the split while others only take into account the poverty level. This often leads to significant disparity in the amounts of child support payable from one State to the next.

How come America backed a Fasicist pig general Augusto Pinochet to overthrow a Democracy in Chile?
Q. Coup d'etat on the elected Socialist President Salvador Allende in 1973? And America continue supported the Fascist dictatorship Pinochet established? Aren we the "land of free"?
Asked by Pooh. - Mon Jun 1 18:51:18 2009 - - 15 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Unfortunately, just like we did with Iran in 1953, we came to the conclusion that we somehow had a "right" to interfere in the internal affairs of a nation that posed no threat to us. That is what our foreign policy has been all about since WWII. What a lot of people have failed to figure out, despite the fact that the writing is on the wall, is that citizens of a nation don't like you when you do stuff like this to them. That generates hatred for America, which, of course, inspires people to take reprehensible actions against our own civilians. It's a vicious cycle, and it's one that will only ever end when we realize that we can't just go around and screw with whichever country we feel like.

And that's why USA now isn't doing so well in the global competition. Most developed countries limit their spending on the military. A. America's right wing is not the same thing as the BNP or Jean - Marie le pen's National Front party, those are bordering on fascism and making statements like denial of the Holocaust are not shared with the views of American conservatism, America's right wing is more to do with economic and defense policy rather than ideology of race like those two you have mentioned. Even the most outlandish views ie those of conservative commentators like Beck, Hannity, and Limbaugh, are not even remotely anything like those of the BNP etc... Similar species but not the same animal!

Why is America's population centered close to our borders with other countries?
Q. For example, Boston, New York City, Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Minneapolis, Chicago and Seattle are all within a few hours drive of the Canadian border. Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Houston and Dallas are all relatively close to the Mexican border. Is there a reason for this, or is this just the way it happened? Or maybe Middle America is just a crummy place to live?

A. Most of the cities you state are near oceans or large bodies(great lakes) of water. Most of the big cities developed as ports for trade and commerce. Factories and now large corporations became more prevalent and so more people could could work in less land. In middle America is far away form the rest of the world geographically and so less cities were made. The fact that cities pop up near other countries can be for the most part attributed to the fact that these places are near water.

A. They are 2 nations on separate land masses with oceans between them. That makes them different continents, with our means of travel these days, the continents are only important for geography, and geology. and history.

What does America need to change to compete on a global economic scale with countries who pay cheaper wages?
Q. Do we need to lower our corporate tax rate? Do we need to change our health-care policy to government socialized care? Do we need to reform our education system? How can America compete with countries like China/India/Korea?

A. It's all a matter of supply and demand. Countries where labor is cheap are comprised of huge populations of low/unskilled workers. Developed countries with good education systems tend to have fewer of these type of workers, thus increasing wages because demand is high and the supply is low. In less developed countries, the supply of these workers far exceeds the demand so it makes fiscal sense for a country to open manufacturing facilities there in order to keep production costs low. In addition, lowering capital gains taxes helps companies (big and small)by freeing up those profits to reinvest in R & D which ultimately leads to more efficient means of production. Labor unions also create wage pressure by artificially inflating… [cont.]

Why is America the only western democracy without a public health care system?
Q. Health care is a basic right no matter how much money someone has in every developed country except America. Why does it not want to look after it's own citizens?

A. Because people of the USA have been fed a lot of propaganda and it's hard to dispel that. Socialism is a dirty word in the states and government control of anything is severely disliked.
