After filing my 2007 taxes I recieved a reference # 1301 code from the irs. What does this mean ?

A. Survey courses, especially history courses, are designed so that they each build upon each other. As a result, 1302 is going to most likely expect you to have background knowledge from 1301, and therefore it's probably going to be very confusing for you. I minored in History for my first degree and always did my surveys in order -- Western Civ I before II, U.S. History I before II, Women's History I before II, etc. It would be hard to take a course that starts with Reconstruction without knowing what happened in the Civil War, right? :) Of course, there's most likely no rule against this at your college, especially if they're intro-level courses, but having no rule against it still doesn't make it an automatically good idea. :) Take… [cont.]

A. ENG 101 or ENG 1301 are just basically the code used for schools to assign to each class. What you need to look for is course name and course description this will matter when it is time to transfer courses. The general name of the course would be English Composition 1, but each school may have a different way of referencing that course. I think it all may have to deal with the accreditation of each school with how they label it as well.

A. I'm on this one too - filed 2/4, was supposed to have refund by 2/17 - no sign yet, the 1301 showed up on my WMR page on the IRS website as well. I am encouraged to read in other questions that this is nothing to worry about and probably due to the high volume of filers. I tried to call - but the lines were so busy that it did not even allow me to hold. A. DANG! Well, glad to hear it's not just me and I don't have to get the handcuffs ready. I called the IRS office, waited on hold for 15 minutes, only to have the agent tell me they don't know why my return is stuck. Originally filed turbotax efile and was told to expect the refund on 02/06. Then checked IRS website when this didn't come, and it said to expect return 02/10. Now it tells me to call the IRS office with this code ...but the agent is no help. She told me that they have up to 4 weeks to clarify this ... and their time doesn't start to count until they have put this into a hold position ... not the time that I sent this in 3 weeks ago.

A. Had the same problem. Mine was supposed to be 2/20, and as of today, they say it should be deposited on 3/6. It's the stimulus rebate. There are tons of math errors on returns that were e-filed early. On top of that, there was a huge amount of early filers this year, so that overloaded their systems. 1301 simply means there was a delay. Keep checking the WMR website. Delays are running about 2 weeks.

IRS Reference Number 1301?
Q. We filed our taxes on January 20th and they were accepted and a refund date was estimated of Feburary 2nd. Well that didnt happen so I called the IRS on Monday. They couldnt find us in the system and said that since we were first time tax filers and filing jointly that there was a delay on our refund and that our new estimated date would be up on their refund status website. We checked tonight and it have us a reference number of 1301... Does anyone know what this means? Thanks!

A. With you and your spouse being first time filers that will automatically delay the processing of your return, this allows the IRS computers to set up your account information which the computer did not have until you filed this return. Unfortunately this delays your refund being issued.
