What does the irs tax code 1221 specifically mean in regards to them reviewing my refund?
Q. I filed my taxes Jan 20th. The IRS delayed them and then earlier this week gave me a code saying 1201. I called and they said that they were reviewing them. Now today I checked and they gave me a code saying 1221. What does this mean specifically and what should I do?

A. Um in the same situation as you. I've been waiting for my refund since 1/17 first it was a dd date of 1/30 and then delayed to 2/24. I've had the same reference codes as you... N0w i'm @ 1221. They irs reps told me that i am to expect a cp05 letter in the mail. So you will probably get one, too. I asked them what is the letter for and they said just to let you know that you taxes are being reviewed! So they are probably reviewing yours, too. -G00D LUCK!

A. I'm waiting on my refund for the same reason. Last year was the same thing, too (we file an injured spouse form so it takes longer) It seems like they told me it would be 4-6 weeks, but it came way faster, like after just a couple weeks. So, the answer is anywhere between 2 and 6 weeks.

A. It was pulled for manual review. Allow another 7 weeks for processing...assuming you don't get mail before that asking for more documentation supporting dependents, deductions or credits claimed on the return.
